COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Community Education

From its inception, KCS has remained actively involved with Community-Based Education. Initially, KCS provided education and social support for the growing Korean and API communities but has since evolved its focus to include all underserved populations.

AA Meetings

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an international mutual aid fellowship whose stated purpose is to enable its members to “stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.” KCS hosts regular AA meetings to help API individuals and families.

Family to Family

Family-to-Family is an educational program designed to significantly improve coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to someone with a mental health condition.

Destigmatizing Recovery Stigma Art

The Drawing Out Stigma Program, also known as the Destigmatizing Recovery Stigma Art Program, aims to draw out and explore mental health stigma from a community perspective through a culturally and linguistically responsive process. Other workshops include Poetry, Memoir and Short Stories, Cultural Arts, Music, and Dance.

Mental Health Training

This training focuses on creating awareness of mental health stigma and understanding mental health conditions through dialogue, film, and interactive activities. KCS helps participants see cultural barriers to seeking support, develop awareness of mental and behavior health challenges, and gain knowledge of Orange County’s mental health resources.
