Behavioral Health FAQs

Common questions about behavioral health care

Is what I share confidential?
Yes. Your therapeutic sessions are protected by federal and state privacy laws. There are limited exceptions, such as when there is imminent danger to yourself or others, that your counselor will explain at your first visit.
Do I need a referral?

Yes. Behavioral health care at KCS starts with a referral from one of our providers. To begin, you need to already be getting primary care or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) at KCS. Your provider can refer you, and our team will do a short screening to match you with the right level of care for your needs.

If you are not a KCS patient yet, call us at 714-503-6550 and we will help you get started.

If you are in crisis right now, you do not need a referral. Call or text 988 any time, day or night. Call 911 if you or someone else is in danger.

What if my counseling is court-ordered?
We handle court and DMV reporting for DUI, PC1000, and other court-mandated programs. Bring your court paperwork to your intake.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Many of our counseling services are available via secure video appointments, including individual, group, and family sessions.
What languages do counselors speak?
Our counselors provide services in English, Korean, and Spanish. Interpreter services are available for other languages.
How long does counseling last?
It depends on your program and goals. Some programs have set lengths (such as DUI), while others are tailored to your needs.
